These paintings were mostly made in the vicinity of Lough Corrib, near the village of Oughterard, Galway, Ireland. Between 2002 and 2004 Redden lived there, alone in a small cottage by the lake. He worked as an apprentice to a wooden boat-builder. These studies are of the light and nature surrounding the lake. Shifting light between mountains, the god beams that illuminate the grand theatre of barren mountain tops and forests that cap the hundreds of islands of Lough Corrib. There are also some scenes of trips to Galway City and other observation from a life spent in nature.

These works are original watercolours, made in the open air, often affected by rain and dried by the wind. Redden still visits this wonderful land and continues to make paintings of Lough Corrib.
